Are you a person who can get others excited about learning?

Are you an enthusiastic learner yourself? Are you knowledgeable about the needs of children and families, particularly those involved with the child welfare system?  When you lead a training, are people still talking about it weeks later? Are families youve worked with still using what you have taught them three months later? If so, then you may be the person we are looking for! 

As a Professional Trainer and Family Educator, a typical week could include the following activities:

  • Facilitating a training for a county Department of Social Services
  • Drafting a proposal for an agency interested in a training
  • Traveling to a familys home to facilitate a Family Education and Support session
  • Documenting recent training activities
  • Reviewing a current research brief about family engagement
  • Meeting with team members via Skype to plan a new training
  • Facilitating a support group for kinship caregivers
  • Creating handouts or resources for a training
  • Providing an Alternatives to Spanking training for foster parents

You are a dynamic and engaging presenter " both face-to-face and when using technology for distance learning. You enjoy helping people learn and grow. You are knowledgeable and enjoy staying on top of the latest trends and research.

You are as comfortable in front of a group of professionals as sitting in a parents living room. You can encourage and inspire others. You are nonjudgmental and accept all kinds of families, perspectives, and beliefs.

You are a good listener.

You are self-motivated and can work independently. You can also contribute to a team. You can manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities. 

You are a persuasive speaker. You communicate effectively and professionally in writing and on the phone.  You pay attention to details.  You are focused and organized, and capable of meeting deadlines.

You Have:

  • Knowledge and passion for children and families paired with the ability to share that with others in a way that has impact
  • Life experience that contributes to your knowledge base
  • Storytelling ability
  • A good sense of humor
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a human services or education field of study
  • Experience training and providing parent education
  • Drivers license, insurance, and transportation
